If you have achieved your dreams, you know what it takes — hard work, discipline and commitment. And grace.
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”Ecclesiastes 9:10
Two areas where hard work, discipline and commitment are key is in soccer and athletics.
In soccer, you cannot score a goal by a single kick of the ball from the goal post to the other.
However, by short kicks — one short kick at a time — you could approach the opposing goal post for a brilliant scoring kick. Yet you do not approach the goal post alone. The passing of the ball from one player to another is imperative — each team-mate contributing their short kicks at a time. Consequently, the spirit of team work must be cultivated.
Similarly, in athletics, a single giant step won’t make you win the race. Every short step at a time approaches the finish line. And ultimately you make that giant winning leap. In releighs especially, the passing of the baton from one team-mate to the next is also required. Therefore, we can’t neglect the necessity of team work.
Dear friend, I know you’re in the process of building something magnificent. I know you’re anticipating to realize its completion. Maybe it has been long since you started. Perhaps each brick is weighing you down because it is becoming too weighty for you. Maybe the process is becoming too costly. Maybe there are a thousand bricks to lift, more bricks to bind together and you feel exhausted. Perhaps you want to quit.
I want to tell you that for all the monumental castles that attract your gaze, a brick is moved, one by one, from the truck to the cart and eventually set on the wall. Over time, a spectacular mansion is erected. Commitment and grace is what we need, quitting isn’t an option if you want to actualize your dreams.
One short kick at a time; one short step at a time. One brick at a time. This is what we need to make our dreams a reality.
One step at a time, you can now walk toward the next level even if it seems impossible. I have faith in you.
“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.”1 Corinthians 9:24
God bless you abundantly.
