What are you making for yourself?

Faith, Grace and Commitment are what we need to build our castles.

“Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch…Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.”

Genesis 6:14,22.

Whenever God calls us, He gives us an assignment that we must accomplish. He also provides us with the necessary resources to carry out that assignment — guidelines, finances, destiny helpers etc.

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”

John 15:16.

However, too often, people fail to obey God’s instructions because they fear and doubt so that they pay too much attention and time listening to various deceptive noises. They expend too much energy trying to keep up with the timelines and standards society has set up. They, therefore, end up investing in way too many things which are not in line with their God-given assignments. This leaves them exhausted and unfulfilled, which is far from the abundant life Jesus gives.

Worse yet, people fail to carry out their divine assignments because they live other people’s lives, trying to fulfil others’ assignments. Always accepting more than they are supposed to handle. Walking in misplaced kindness rather than exercising wisdom to rebel when it is necessary. Living their lives at the expense of others — others’ inadequacy and not God’s sufficiency.

More to that, people fail to achieve their dreams because they compare themselves with others. When their friends, neighbours, family members…reach the pinnacle before them, they feel left behind. Behind in completing their studies, getting married, building a house, getting a job. Anything.

They fail to realise that we cannot take the same duration to complete a task as someone else did. One might be ahead in some things, another in others. However, the one who finishes earlier is not better than the one who finishes later. Nor does the one who finishes last slow or late because everyone is working at their unique assignment at their own pace.

Dear friend, I know something magnificent in your life is in the making. I know you’re anticipating its completion. Maybe it has been a long since you started. Perhaps each brick is weighing you down because it is becoming too weighty for you. Maybe the process is becoming too costly. Maybe there are a thousand bricks to lift; more bricks to bind together so you feel exhausted. Perhaps you want to quit because people are mocking you. After all, they think you won’t accomplish your assignment. Maybe you feel like you’re a loser because you’re not making it in time.

What has God instructed you to make? I want to tell you that for all the monumental castles that attract your gaze, a brick is moved, one by one, from the truck to the cart and eventually set on the wall. Over time, a spectacular mansion is erected. It is a process.

It took faith for Noah to build the ark while the people mocked and insulted him. Whatever God has instructed us to do must prevail no matter what it takes. Faith, Grace and Commitment are what we need to build our castles; quitting isn’t an option if we want to fulfil our dreams.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. ~ Hebrews 11:8.

By faith, Abraham left his motherland and set out for the horizon when God called him.

It takes faith for us to commence the journey of our divine assignment. It doesn’t matter whether the assignment is big or small. What matters is taking the first step failure to which we miss entering into the place of receiving our inheritance in Christ.

We must, therefore, endure and commit to the process. Endure temptations, hardships, delays, hostilities; knowing that the author and the finisher of our faith will never leave nor forsake us! He will provide us with sufficient grace to accomplish that assignment. Amen.

God bless you abundantly!
