Keep on praying
Sometimes we undergo seasons in which we can’t see the beauty of life anymore. Worse yet, the seasons may seem endless and we feel like withdrawing.
But it shouldn’t be so to believers. When things seem to be running south, our faith should remain rock solid. When we’re being pressed under the carpet, we should wiggle our way out.
Israel experienced a prolonged drought during Ahab’s reign. At the same time, Ahab was annihilating God’s prophets. But Elijah, the prophet stood firm in the faith. He didn’t lose hope and retire from his assignment. So, God manifested Himself powerfully and it was known all over Israel that Elijah was a true prophet of a true God.
“Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’” Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was heavy rain.”1 Kings 18: 44 – 45.
Elijah’s servant looked towards the sea six times seeing no sign of rain. However, at the seventh time, he saw a small cloud that soon produced heavy rains.
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.”James 5:17–18.
Amid scarcity/drought, God’s children should continue to pray fervently. It doesn’t matter how adverse the drought is, or for how long they have waited, at the seventh time there is going to be an abundance of rain. If God promises, it must come to pass.
Maybe you’ve waited for too long and you’re on the verge of resigning. I want to tell you that, no season is eternal. Do not, therefore, stop praying. Prayers unlock doors to God’s abundance. Just hold on in faith; endure the hardships, hostilities, temptations, delays… Do not quit, soon you’re going to experience an abundance of showers of blessings. Amen!
