We escape the nature of sin and satan, which is death through salvation
“…how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?”Hebrew 2:3–4.
We’re in evil days—unending evils. With enough to be disgusted about. Embezzlement of resources. Deliberate killings. Untold infringement of human rights, deprivation of fair share…etc. Where are we headed to anyway?
We’re even not certain of what will happen to us in the next minute. Anxiety, fear and hopelessness are rising because people are no longer finding the value of life.
Apostle Paul, warns us that we’re in the last days. He paints a clear picture of the nature of humanity these days.
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”2 Timothy 3:1–6.
He warns us to turn away from these kinds of people. Turning away means not participating in these things and not being part of those who do them.
Amid all these things, one must ask themselves one question: what will happen after I die?
This is one question that we don’t always ask ourselves because death has become a normal thing nowadays. But death isn’t the way of escape, because it is guaranteed to all of us.
As the writer, Edmund Wilson put it, “Death is one prophecy that never fails.” Nevertheless, no one knows when it will happen but we know it will.
So now, we must prepare for ourselves the place to be after death. How we are going to live after we die is determined by how we live before we die.
Friends, the only way of escape is salvation. Salvation is a rebirth that takes place in our spirits when we accept Jesus Christ as our saviour.
This rebirth takes one from the life of sin and death to righteousness and abundant life of Jesus Christ. One takes on the nature of God—the nature of life. Thus, one escapes the nature of sin and satan, which is death (John 8:44).
If you haven’t invited Jesus into your life, you can decide right now to let Him in to transform your life. Jesus is waiting for you!
So, to be saved you must use your heart and your mouth. You must believe in your heart that God’s word is true and confess with your mouth that truth.
“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”Romans 10:10.
You must remember that one day we shall stand before our Holy Father to give an account of our lives. Thus, after salvation, we must choose to live carefully, not carelessly, by working our salvation with fear and trembling. Amen!
